How can palace improve for the future

its been an uninspiring season for the eagles after a promising campaign last season where they comfortably stayed up in the premier league and got to the semi finals of the fa cup it was looking like a good future which could lead to another promising campaign. One of the promising stars from last year was Conor Gallagher with his work rate and determination his press worked well in the way Vieira wanted to play as he wanted to press from the front.

In the summer Palace lost two experienced players with 550 appearances between them in Cheikhou Kouyate and Christian Benteke which has proven costly as the team is lacking in experience. In the summer however they did sign Cheick Doucoure who has proven to be a huge hit at Selhurst Park with his interceptions and tackles important to the way palace play but losing Gallagher has been a bit of a miss as his press was so important to team and the midfield looks a bit lifeless without him. They did sign another experienced player with Sam Johnstone but he hasn’t had much game time as he has mainly played in the cup games as Vincente Guaita has been trusted with being number one this season.

The squad is currently lacking in depth and quality as they have had to play people who haven’t been on form for example Schlupp and ward who are far from premier league quality and that has shown as many times they have been the reason for some of the goals they have conceded. They haven’t been that great going forward with their top scorer being Zaha who has 6 goals and with him being out of contract and surly leaving its gonna be hard to replace him as he offers so much with his experience trickery and skill.

This current January transfer window is set to be a quiet one as Parish came out and said he’s looking at a few loans which isn’t that bad as they will need reinforcements if they want to be better as a team but they will have to be temporary as they don’t have much money to spend as one of the owners John Textor more focused on his other clubs like Lyon and the other owners Harris and Blitzer interested in buying any big club that is free its left to Parish to pick up the pieces.

The objective for this season is to stay up and hopefully get a mid table place but with a hard run of games coming up its going to go down to strength and determination to get them a few points which will hopefully keep them up so they can start a proper rebuild without their star man Wilfried Zaha.
