Birmingham City right now are going through a crisis situation, and it’s only going to get worse for them at the moment with the current things going on for them. It could get even worse for them.
Birmingham City are a historic club who have been in the top division as recently as 2011, but in recent times they have been declining, with them almost being relegated to League One in 2014 if it wasn’t for a last-minute goal. In recent times, however, it’s been a struggle on and off the pitch, and with what’s happening recently, it could get worse for the Midlands club.
It is rumoured they could face a suspended points deduction as they broke efl regulations by funding the club without the league’s approval. It all started after a failed takeover attempt by Birmingham fan Paul Richardson and former Barcelona player Maxi Lopez, who are accused of running the club without passing the owner’s test, which is needed to run a club.
If found guilty of this, they could face a similar fate to what Rochdale got last year, which was a suspended points deduction that was suspended for 2 years. They aren’t doing well this season in the championship either, as they are 7 points away from the relegation zone, so a good run of form will be needed if they want to stay up and away from the relegation battle as it gets tense in the latter stages of the season.
With off-pitch trouble however, it’s going to be best if they focus on the league and worry about that at a later date, but with financial trouble and problems with the EFL, it could be a long few months for the club, which will hopefully want to make it out of this situation, or it could get worse for the side from the midlands.
They will hopefully find a new owner to take them to the heights of the Premier League again after they’ve spent more than a decade in the Championship, which is poor as they’ve seen their midlands rivals go up in recent years whilst they have stayed there. There is no news on potential buyers for the midlands club, but hopefully we will see some good news for them soon.
