Arsenal End Of Season Review

Season Review

Arsenal had a season that no one would’ve ever predicted would happen. At the start of the season, they went on a ride.

It all started off with a win away at Crystal Palace, and that sparked a five-game run where they won all their games.

They would eventually go top at Christmas, which led to their fans thinking they would win the league and dominate it; however, that wasn’t the case in the end.

It was all going well, and they were going solid, but it would all come crashing down as they bottled a 2-0 lead against Liverpool, which started their downfall.

They would soon draw their next two games to two teams in a relegation battle, and then a 4-1 loss to Manchester City put a massive dent in their Premier League charge.

They would eventually surrender the title, as two losses in a row gave City their third title in a row, which was a shame as they were 11 points clear before the game against Liverpool.

If they had more experienced heads, I reckon they could’ve done it, but youth got the better of them in the end, as experience is one thing you need on your side if you want to win trophies, which is something they lacked.

Player Of The Season: Martin Odegaard

Arsenal have a few players for this pick, but I’ve gone with Martin Odegaard as he’s been their most consistent player this season, showing his leadership and skill.

He has chipped in with 15 goals and 7 assists this season, becoming the joint top scorer for his club this season in the Premier League.

His all-round play on the ball has impressed me a lot, as he’s been the main outlet of creation for the club in their title charge.

His leadership skills have impressed me a lot, as he’s shown to be a huge leader in this youthful Arsenal squad and has motivated his team throughout the season.

He certainly has a big future ahead of him if he can keep up the consistency he’s shown throughout the season and perform when it matters. He is still only 24 and will grow from this experience.

Most Underwhelming Player: Rob Holding

Arsenal haven’t had many terrible performers this season, as they have been solid throughout, but one player who hasn’t been at his best this year is Rob Holding.

He hasn’t played as many minutes, but when he has, he’s looked lethargic. He came in to originally replace Saliba while he was out injured, and you can just tell he isn’t the same quality-wise.

His poor performances have possibly cost Arsenal the title, as he appeared in their four games where they didn’t win.

He was eventually replaced by Kiwior, who has been solid and has kept his place in the starting 11, while Holding was sent back to the bench.

He’s clearly shown he’s not Premier League standard, and a move away might be happening next season as he can’t seem to get into the Arsenal squad now.

Result of the season: Arsenal 3-2 Manchester United

This game was fascinating to watch with both teams going for it, and it turned out to be a good result for the Gunners in the end.

Man United would first take the lead in that game with Marcus Rashford coasting past Partey and scoring from 25 yards that zoomed past Ramsdale.

The Gunners soon pegged them back, though, as Nketiah scored a glancing header from the back post past De Gea to level the game for them, and that is where the game came to life.

Then soon the gunners would take the lead as starboy Bukayo Saka would cut in on the right flank and strike the ball into the bottom right corner from 25 yards out, leaving De Gea with no chance.

Then they would be the team to be pegged back, as a few minutes later it was 2-2 as, from a corner, Martinez got on the end of an Arsenal mix-up to get his first goal for the club.

Then, in the last few seconds of the game, Nketiah reacted quickly to tap it home to win the game for Arsenal and get his second game, which cemented their place at the top at the time.

How I Rate Their Season Out Of 10

I’m rating their season a 9/10 since no one expected them to be where they are at the start of the season and they have defined expectations. It would’ve been a 10 if they didn’t fall off in the end, but I feel it’s been a solid season for the Gunners, and hopefully they will keep it up and make next season an even better season. They are on the steps to greatness.
