Crewe vs Doncaster Match Report

Crewe come into this game on poor form with 2 wins in 12 and no goals scored at home since the 23rd of March, so they will have a lot to do to stop this Doncaster side, so they will need a goal to settle the pressure that will be put on them this game.

Doncaster are the most inform side in the playoffs after a ten-game winning streak plummeted them up the league and into the playoff places and with experienced manager Grant McCann at the helm, who is looking to secure another promotion to League One.

Both teams looked sharp at the end of the pitch with Crewe having most of the chances in this half, however it was Doncaster who would take the lead, as Luke Molyneux bundled home a shot from a good cross by Matthew Craig. It was a terrible goal to concede for Crewe as they were looking the more promising side, but it’s the away side with the lead and the confidence to score more goals.

Half-time and both teams played well, but it was Doncaster with the lead. Crewe will hope to find some more chances, especially with Shilow Tracey, who has been their best player this half and the only one who’s looking like scoring for them, so if they can unlock his blistering pace some more, they will get more chances, and hopefully they will take some of them to level the game.

Second half and straight away, Doncaster came out firing, and they would get their second goal with Harrison Biggins coming back into the side and back on the goals as his right-footed shot smashed into the bottom left corner, giving Doncaster the momentum in the game and giving them a 2-goal lead before coming off as he picked up another knock. This is not the start Crewe would’ve wanted as they are now fighting a losing battle currently with their opponents scoring two goals, and they will need to get a goal soon to give them a chance in this game.

There wasn’t much action after that as Doncaster were growing in confidence and kept the pressure piling on Crewe. Crewe did have some chances late on with Chris Long header going over the bar, but it was Doncaster who would prevail as winners, and they have surely wrapped up the tie already with a two-goal lead going to the Eco-Power stadium on Friday.

Crewe were poor today, and they will have it all to do on Friday if they want to make it to Wembley, but surely it’s game set and match for Doncaster as they have managed to keep up their amazing form that they took into today’s game, and they will feel,, the more confident side on Friday where they will hopefully bring it home in front of their fans.
