Crawley vs MK Dons Match Report

MK Dons come into the game the more favourable side as they have produced some amazing performances which have seen them rocket to fourth, making them the favourites to get promoted through the playoffs this season.

Crawley only secured their place on the final day of the season, securing a 2-0 win against Grimsby and with results going their way, it allowed them to get the final playoff spot. Last year they survived on the skin of their teeth with 4 different managers and financial problems, however this time they have a chance to get promoted to League One.

The game started off really brightly for MK Dons, and they soon came close to the opening goal as Max Dean raced in on goal but a good block from Will Wright denied him and then, following on after that, the home side would take the lead as Liam Kelly placed a shot past, the Don’s goalkeeper giving his side the lead in the game.

Crawley grew in confidence as MK Dons haven’t been at the races today, and so they would get their second goal, as from a nice cross from Will Wright, Jay Williams managed to bundle it home and give his side a 2-0 lead in this game just before half-time. It was all Crawley this game, so the second goal was bound to come.

Half-time and Crawley have dominated their opponents, barely giving them a sniff, and they could’ve had so many more goals with their attack playing with so much confidence and this will give them the belief that they can get to Wembley. The favourites for this tie have been horrendous, and they are just not producing the football that got them to 4th, and they will need to improve in this second half to give them a slight chance in this game.

Second half and just like the first half, it’s been all Crawley dominating the game in front of their home fans. MK Dons did come close, however, from an Ellis Harrison shot that whisked away from the goal, but soon later, disaster struck for MK Dons as Ronan Darcy’s shot took a huge deflection taking it past the MK Don’s goalkeeper 3-0 and surely game over for this match as the away side are not showing signs that they will get back into this game and its advantage Crawley in this two legged tie.

MK Dons were pushing for a goal with some few half chances, but they fell to no avail and the game ended 3-0 to Crawley, who were the best side in this game, and they proved the doubters wrong with a thrilling performance, and now MK Dons have it all to do in the second leg if they want to reach Wembley but it’s Crawley with the huge advantage, and they surely have one foot in the playoff final door.
